Horizon Report for 2011

Here's a report all of us should read. It's the 2011 edition of the Horizon report and includes topics on etexts, augmented reality, mobile technology - all relevant to initiatives we currently have on the go. Here's the link and executive summary:

"Each year, the Horizon Report describes six areas of emerging technology that will have significant impact on higher education and creative expression over the next one to five years. The areas of emerging technology cited for 2011 are:

Time to adoption: One Year or Less

  • Electronic Books
  • Mobiles

Time to adoption: Two to Three Years

  • Augmented Reality
  • Game-based Learning

Time to adoption: Four to Five Years

  • Gesture-based Computing
  • Learning Analytics"

I really liked some of the augmented reality resources - especially the ?relative? ease of setting up an augmented reality layer using a PorPOISE server. http://code.google.com/p/porpoise/
