One of the new initiatives in
EET this year is an escalated “required” orientation for new instructors. This gap was identified through feedback
from chairs and from focus groups we facilitated with instructors last
spring.
- Additional Instructional Skills Workshops (ISWs). We offered one last week for six new instructors, and so far we’ve scheduled two more in August. We’re also having to adapt the traditional model to accommodate increased numbers of instructors who need and / or want to participate in this workshop
- Course Design Workshop: This provides instructors with initial support for designing their courses.
- Intro to Teaching Workshop: This is a condensed version of the ISW and is a requirement for casual / hourly instructors.
- Resources: We’re also compiling resource information for new instructors, including a “manual” and digital information.
